SELECTIONS
Official Selection 29th Málaga Film Festival (Spain, 2026)
"One of my favourite parts of the project was working with Inés González and Juan Martí during the script development process. Many of us who joined the team later were surprised to discover the reality of rented accounts. It’s a deeply invisible situation, which is why the motif of the ghost runs throughout the short film."
Bárbara Fernández (Madrid, 1997) made her debut as a director and co-writer with El Baile del Estornino (2020), an LGBTQ+ story screened at the Sitges Film Festival and selected for Fire Lab 2023 in its feature-length version.

Her work combines the physical language of video dance with a social and feminist perspective. Corazón de Tango (2023), premiered on Broadway, received awards in Medina del Campo and the Gaztea Award for Best Music Video. Save the Future (2022), released on Filmin after screening at Choreoscope, explores sustainable fashion.

In the documentary field, her notable works include Comida Caducada (2021), created under the mentorship of Isabel Coixet, and Retrato de lo invisible, winner at the Astorga Film Festival in 2023. That same year, she received the Talent First Prize for her short film Backside Ollie

She is currently developing her feature debut of the same title at the Spanish Film Academy’s Residency Programme.
"For me, Relay has been a learning experience and an encounter with people who live outside the system. From the direction, we wanted the camera to maintain a certain distance from the protagonist, pointing to the everyday coldness that runs through his daily life."
David Mendizábal (Navarra, 1992) is a director and cinematographer trained between Vancouver and Madrid at InFocus Film School and ECAM. He made his directorial debut with Los Silencios (2021), an experimental short film mentored by Isabel Coixet, and continued with 9 horas (2022), an intimate piece about the long-distance relationship between a father and daughter. In 2024, he directed Tierra Húmeda.

As a cinematographer, he received an award at the Lens Dance Festival for Uholdeak (2022), and was nominated for Best Cinematography at the Fugaz Awards 2023 for Yegua and at the La Jolla Fashion Film Festival for Save the Future (2022). He was also awarded Best Music Video for Corazón de Tango at SECIME 2023 and at the Gaztea Sariak Awards (EITB).
